This program comprises the Locksmithing stream for the Certificate II in Engineering. Prepares students for work in the locksmithing industry. Students who continue on to apprenticeship studies after completing the certificate II will have the relevant units credited to their apprenticeship. Fabrication
This program comprises the Fabrication stream of the Certificate IV in Engineering. Covers light, heavy and welding fabrication. Enhances the skills of people working in the metal trades. Areas of study include ducting, cubicle, stainless fabrication, boiler and pressure vessel, structural, drawing, print reading and welding to WTIA (DOL) certification. Light Fabrication
This program comprises the Light Fabrication stream of the Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade. NMIT also offers the Heavy Fabrication stream for the Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade through the Mechanical Manufacturing Department. You will learn all about light fabrication techniques in this course. This will enable you to complete your apprenticeship and work as a tradesman. Light fabrication is traditionally known as sheetmetal work. Perform tasks ranging from manual metal arc welding and geometric development to drawing interpretation.
Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade
Heavy Fabrication
This program comprises the Heavy Fabrication stream of the Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade. You will learn all about heavy fabrication techniques in this course. It is for people employed as apprentices. Heavy fabrication is traditionally known as boiler making. Boilermakers cut, shape, assemble and join heavy gauge metal parts to produce or repair containers that have to withstand pressure. Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
Provides apprentices with a high level of basic and advanced skills in fitting and machining which they can build on through on-the-job training, including marking out, use of hand tools, drawing, turning, milling and grinding. NMIT also offers the Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade to non-industry and international students through the Mechanical Manufacturing Department.
Advanced Diploma of Engineering Design
This qualification may lead to para-professional employment in supporting the work of engineers through tasks such as preparing drawings, designing to requirement, costing projects, or testing materials. Diploma of Engineering Drafting
Do you want to work in civil engineering? The Diploma of Engineering Drafting can help you achieve this goal. The first year of this course at NMIT focuses on engineering drafting skills. These will enable you to find employment in civil engineering. In the second year you can specialise in geographic information, civil or structural drafting.
