English for Hospitality
This program comprises the English for Hospitality stream of the Certificate III in ESL (Employment). If you would like a career in hospitality, concentrating on the area of cookery, this course can give you the skills you need. This English language course also involves 7 hours per week of practical kitchen work, plus 3 hours per week of hospitality theory. Employment opportunities are excellent, and may lead to work in hospitals, nursing homes, hotels or restaurants. The Vocational Pathways Department also offers other ESL streams of the Certificate III in ESL (Employment).
If you love organising functions and events and would like to work in the tourism industry, NMIT’s Certificate III in Events is for you. You can learn skills vital to running successful events and tourism businesses, from basic business practices to assisting in the management of projects. You will be able to do support roles in an office environment.
The course aims to provide participants with the practical and theoretical knowledge in the area of events, specialising in hospitality and venue management. The Diploma of Events provides practical training in food and beverage service, hospitality supervision and management, and the organisation and management of special events, meetings and conventions. The Diploma of Events can be completed as a standalone course with pathways into the Advanced Diploma of Events, or in conjunction with the Diploma of Hospitality to achieve a dual qualification. Foundation
The Certificate I in Transition Education is suitable for students with disabilities, particularly those with individual learning needs. An individual education program plan is developed for each student by setting objectives to meet their needs. Areas covered involve personal goals which may be about vocational studies, social recreation, job choices, literacy, numeracy, training and voluntary work experiences.

This program comprises the General stream of the Certificate I in Work Education. The Certificate I in Work Education is suitable for students with disabilities particularly those with individual learning needs. Areas covered may involve personal goals, such as: job choice, literacy, numeracy, practical placement experiences and vocational studies in the retail, warehousing, hospitality, or various trades.

Incorporates the nationally recognised unit of competency Implement Food Safety Procedures SITXFSA001A. This module should be taken after completion of the module Food Hygiene for Handlers, as part of the Food Safety Package.
