The Associate Degree of Music is an embedded exit point at the completion of the second year of the Bachelor of Music. Diploma of Sound Production

The Diploma of Sound Production is for students who wish to work in the field of sound production with a specialisation in producing electronic music and sound design for commercial release, live performance, theatre, film and television. Students will be involved in the creation, recording, arrangement, mixing and management of music and sound design projects. This course is for DJs, composers, sound designers and/or sound producers with an interest in electronic or non-traditional instruments using specialist music production software and music technology, and caters for artists working in smaller high quality studios, utilising specialised music technology.

Copyright for Musicians Online

As a musician, performer, writer or arranger, it is essential that you are aware of your rights, and the rights of others, under copyright law. That way you can protect the work you have lovingly crafted over many long hours. Copyright for Musicians Online will show you how to safeguard your creative efforts and make them work for you now and in the future. This online course will earn you credits towards attaining the Certificate IV in Music through the completion of the nationally recognised unit of study CUFCMP301A Implement Copyright Arrangements.

Electric Guitar and Bass Making 1

This course provides a background to instrument design, basic wood working skills, basic sound theory, selecting tone wood and their use, the theory and practice of instrument construction including the fit out with electronic components. Additionally participants will develop skills in the use of a range of woodworking tools relevant to instrument making.

Electric Guitar and Bass Making 2

This course is a continuation of the principles learned during the Electric Guitar and Bass Making 1 short course, which includes instrument design, wood working skills, sound theory, selecting tone wood and their use, the theory and practice of instrument construction including the fit out with electronic components. The course includes the concept and design work as well as the construction of jigs and templates that are preliminary to building a new instrument.

Music Arranging Online

Learn how to arrange music in a variety of contemporary musical styles. Explore phrasing, instrumentation and a range of rhythms appropriate to contemporary rock, pop, country, hip-hop, disco, reggae, shuffle and Latin musical styles. Apply conventional and creative techniques to developing melody, harmony, structure, and texture appropriate to your arrangement and use technology to produce scores suitable for working with other musicians. This online course will earn you credits towards attaining the Certificate IV in Music through the completion of the nationally recognised units of study CUSMCP401A Develop Techniques for Arranging Music, and CUSMLT401A Notate Music for Performance.

Preparing for a Music Audition

Gain further insight into the music audition process and develop your presentation and preparation skills. This course has on emphasis is on the NMIT audition process, although the principles taught are applicable to any audition scenario. Take that first step in your musical career!
