Introduction to Trade Skills ESL (VCAL YAMEC)

The Introduction to Trade Skills ESL program is a six-month VCAL course offered through the Youth Unit's Young Adult Migrant Education Courses (YAMEC). The program prepares students for further training or employment in the building and construction industry. It includes trade workshop classes and industry visits and all students will have the opportunity to get their General Construction Induction Card (White Card). NMIT also offers a range of VCAL programs through the Youth Unit.

VCAL (Foundation)

This VCAL (Foundation) course is offered through the Youth Unit. This program is designed for young people who have a strong desire to undertake vocational training but whose literacy/ numeracy skills may not be at the required level of whose age necessitates an extended pathway. This program will provide extra support for students with their literacy/numeracy needs as well as developing their employability skills. NMIT also offers other VCAL programs through the Youth Unit.

VCAL (Intermediate)

This VCAL (Intermediate) course is offered through the Youth Unit. Intermediate VCAL is an accredited senior school completion certificate suitable for students who require supported development of literacy, numeracy and communication skills in order to go onto further study, apprenticeships or employment. NMIT also offers other VCAL programs through the Youth Unit.

VCAL (Senior)

Senior VCAL is an accredited senior school completion certificate. Open to all ages, the course completes your school education with a focus on preparing you for further education or employment. You can specialise in a range of fields, such as carpentry or music, taking units from business-related certificate courses. NMIT also offers a range of VCAL programs through the Youth Unit.

VCAL Animal Studies

This VCAL Animal Studies program is offered through the Youth Unit. This program is designed for young people who have a strong desire to undertake vocational training but whose literacy/numeracy skills may not be at the required level of whose age necessitates an extended pathway. This program will provide extra support for students with their literacy/numeracy needs as well as developing their employability skills. NMIT also offers other VCAL programs through the Youth Unit.

This VCAL Carpentry program is offered through the Youth Unit. This program is designed for young people who have a strong desire to undertake vocational training but whose literacy/ numeracy skills may not be at the required level of whose age necessitates an extended pathway. Certificate I in Creative Industries

VCAL
This Certificate I in Creative Industries is offered through the VCAL division of the Youth Unit. NMIT also offers the Certificate I in Creative Industries through the Work Education Centre. This course is tailored to the meet the needs of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a high level of support provided. The program runs out of a newly established media training studio in Brunswick, and is delivered in partnership with Youthworx Media. Develop skills in cinematography, basic vision and sound editing, and on-air presentation

Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media)

VCAL
This Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) is offered through the VCAL division of the Youth Unit. This course is tailored to the meet the needs of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a high level of support provided. The program runs out of a newly established media training studio in Brunswick, and is delivered in partnership with Youthworx Media. Develop skills in cinematography, basic vision and sound editing, and on-air presentation. NMIT also offers the Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) through the Information Technology Department.

VCAL ESL YAMEC

The VCAL ESL YAMEC course is offered through the Youth Unit's Young Adult Migrant Education Course (YAMEC). VCAL is an accredited senior secondary school completion certificate. This program is designed for young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds who have not completed secondary school and who need to develop their English, numeracy and communication skills in order to go on to further study, an apprenticeship or employment. This program is designed for young people who have a strong desire to undertake vocational training but whose literacy/numeracy skills may not be at the required level of whose age necessitates an extended pathway. VCAL LinkED Salvation Army

This VCAL LinkED Salvation Army program is offered through the Youth Unit. This program is designed for young people who have a strong desire to undertake vocational training but whose literacy/numeracy skills may not be at the required level of whose age necessitates an extended pathway. This program will provide extra support for students with their literacy/numeracy needs as well as developing their employability skills. NMIT also offers other VCAL programs through the Youth Unit.

Certificate III in Media

VCAL
This Certificate III in Media is offered through the VCAL division of the Youth Unit. NMIT also offers other VCAL programs through the Youth Unit. The Certificate III in Media is also offered through the Information Technology Department. Designed to reflect the role of skilled operators in the digital media industry, as well as a range of competencies in a working environment that provide technical advice and support to teams. Graduates will have the chance to showcase their work in an end-of-year exhibition.

VCAL Ticket to a Trade

The VCAL Ticket to a Trade program is offered through the Youth Unit. Are you interested in learning about the building industry? Do you want to get into a pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship? This program is designed for young people who are interested in pursuing a trade and would like the opportunity to explore the different trade options available as well as gain a secondary school completion certificate through VCAL. NMIT also offers other VCAL courses through the Youth Unit.

Certificate I in Vocational Preparation

Youth Unit

This Certificate I in Vocational Preparation is offered through the Youth Unit. This course is designed for young people seeking vocational training who also need to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. Develop your communication skills for the workplace, while enhancing your confidence and employment options. NMIT also offers the Certificate I in Vocational Preparation through the Vocational Pathways and Foundation Studies departments.
